The dietary Guidelines were first time published in year 1988, and from since many changes have occur in the country.There is drastic lifestyle changes in people leaving urban and both rural.

There is a shift from traditional to modern, changing in cooking practice,increased intake of processed and ready to eat foods.There is high preference of high salted foods, energy dense foods, and high sugar content food as well which is a serious health issue especially for children.

Hence came in the picture were RDA( Recommended Dietary Allowances).The dietary guidelines emphasize promotion of health and prevention of disease, of all age groups with special focus on vulnerable segments of the population such as infants, children and adolescents, pregnant and lactating women and the elderly.
